My "Red Carpet" [Er, Purple Yoga Mat] Beauty Regimen

1/27/2014

I'm sad to report that I missed the Grammy's this past weekend (one of my fave awards shows of the season!), but I'm happy report that it was because I was teaching yoga, and therefore, I was walking my own "Red Carpet" of sorts--my Purple Yoga Mat.

Although you could argue that walking the Red Carpet is VERY different than teaching a yoga class (and if you argued this, you'd definitely win), I have to admit that Red Carpet or Purple Yoga Mat, we all have a typical beauty regimen that helps us get ready to appear in front of a group of people--and as a yoga teacher, I'm no different.

Thus, today I wanted to share my Red Carpet/Purple Yoga Mat prep routine with  you:

  1. Shower. Obvs. But, if I do nothing else in the shower, I try to keep my legs shaved, so that my students don't get poked when I brush up against them while assisting them (only half kidding here...). I'm a big fan of Gillette Venus & Olay Razors, because I need that extra moisture up here in the cold!
  2. If I have time, I wash my hair in the shower (again, obvs). But if I don't have time, or if I just washed it, I use dry shampoo to freshen it up. Yes, you guys, it works! I love it! Such a time and hair-saver. Try Herbal Essences Naked Dry Shampoo, it gets the job done ;)
  3. After getting out of the shower, I apply deodorant. I'm a deodorant addict. I know, I know, but I just have to reapply 2-3 times per day (OCD), because I'm a yoga teacher and I'm paranoid about smelling like, well, a yoga teacher. For those who, like me, tend to sweat a lot throughout the day (or at big events), I recommend Secret Clinical Strength Light & Fresh.
  4. When it comes to makeup, I always wear mascara--even when teaching yoga. I have blond eyelashes, so it's really a no-brainer for me, or I look eyelash-less (sigh). For my fellow eyelash-less ladies, COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara is a very affordable way to get "over-the-top, ten times more noticeable lashes" (and who doesn't want that?).

Other parts of my routine? Something clear and moisturizing on my lips, a quick dab of blush or bronzer, hair in a carefully-rubberbanded ponytail, and often, a headband of some sort :)

And then, with a little help from the fun beauty products listed above, I'm ready to walk the Red Carpet! Er, wooden studio floor...

What's your beauty regimen? What are your fav products?
