In this week's video, we're talking about releasing tightness caused by TMJ-related issues. Because so many of us have pain in our upper backs, shoulders, and neck due to jaw clenching and grinding (which is an epidemic in our country, I believe), I thought it might be helpful to share some of the stretches that I've been doing for my own pain in this area. There's nothing ground-breaking here, and I don't even share any jaw-specific stretches, per se, but I do share the movements that have been helping me to release some of the tension that has spread from my jaw, down through my neck, shoulders, and thoracic spine. It's amazing how connected all of these muscle groups are, and how releasing your upper back or traps can actually do a lot to ease your jaw tenderness. Thus, here are a few stretches that I recommend for pain in this area, simply because they've been helping me {along with acupuncture, the chiro, and my sexy nighttime mouthguard}. Enjoy! You can watch here or on my YouTube Channel, where you can subscribe so you never miss a Sayde sighting (er, video...)!
