I know it's crazy to be doing my first video on chaturanga--a building block pose in vinyasa yoga--41 episodes into my Mat Matters series, but let me explain: Way back before I started doing Mat Matters, I did a video for Tranquil Space TV (my former studio's channel) on "Breaking Down the Vinyasa," in which I focused quite a bit on chaturanga. At the time (2012), I posted this video to the blog, so felt that many of my readers had already heard me harp on this subject. I figured been there, done it. Fast forward to June 2014 and I'm taping last week's video on Tripod Headstand to Chaturanga. As I was going over this transition, I realized that it's pretty crazy to be discussing advanced transitions into chaturanga without having a basic chaturanga video to reference. Thus, here we are. A little late, but better late than never, amiright?! Even if this feels like total review for you, I encourage you to watch it (or watch some other video about chaturanga) just as a check-in and reminder. Often we get into bad habits in our practice without even realizing it, and chaturanga is one of those places where bad habits can easily develop. Want more chaturanga help? Chaturanga, y'all! Love it.
