I couldn't be any more in love with a photography project. As a recent dog rescuer/adoptive mama, I think that "Why We Rescue" is a moving, powerful, informative art series that needed to be out there in the world. Why We Rescue is a "yearlong story-telling documentary that is traversing across all 50 states highlighting how pets transform our lives for the better." The photographer, Theron Humphrey, traveled across the country interviewing dog owners and sharing one rescue story (audio recording) and a number of gorgeous images of that rescue story/family on the Why We Rescue website. He takes amazing pictures of the pets, their owners, their homes, yards, and small details of their lives (inside their fridges, framed photographs, stacks of books), and presents a snapshot (hehe) of both the dog's life and the peoples' lives. The amount of dog love that emanates from these pics is overwhelming, and it makes me SO happy to see all of these sweet animals that were rescued (and are now adored). Check out some of my fave pics from this project below, and view tons more on the Why We Rescue website... OMG, looking at these pics makes me want to rescue another dog. Or 5. Or 100. Anyone want to open a dog shelter with me?
Hooray for all of the dog owners and rescuers out there! View all of the fabulous images and listen to all of the stories from this project here. Comments are closed.
