WE MAKE CARPETS is a trio made up of three Dutch artists who make carpets (obviously). But not the kind of carpets you walk on or lounge on (or that your dog Sayde pees on...), the kind of carpets that make you do a double-take, because although they may look somewhat normal at first glance, they aren't what they seem... The artists, Marcia Nolte, Stijn van der Vleuten and Bob Waardenburg, work together to create carpets out of everyday objects, and each carpet is created on the spot--the design emerges as they work, it isn't pre-planned. I love their carpets, and I love the fact that these carpets were each made by three people, all working together to create a unique piece of art (Because as many of us know, collaborations can be hard!). You can view some of my favorite carpets below; I've included an image of the full carpet first, and then a detail showing the materials up-close... Yep, that's right, carpets made of bottles, straws, crayons, chocolate, sponges, and forks. What's not to love? Especially that chocolate carpet, amirite!?!?
WE MAKE CARPETS recently celebrated 5 years of making carpets together (so cool!), and you can view the rest of their carpets on their website. Hope your day is full of little surprises and more than meets the eye ;) Comments are closed.
