As you should know by now, I'm always on the lookout for creative & unique artistic inspiration. Today's artists are no different in terms of their uniqueness than many that I have posted before--both are extremely talented oil painters who, interestingly enough, both often paint figures with their faces hidden in some way. It's really interesting! Take a look at what I mean by this below... Artist #1: Ana Teresa Fernandez I adore her work! Although you may not be able to tell right away, she is making a somewhat feminist statement about the double-standard imposed on women (angel vs. whore, clean vs. dirty, etc), by depicting women in somewhat sexy outfits while performing household chores. Not only does her work have something to say, but her paintings are also beautifully-painted and executed. A few of my faves are below, but you can view more of her work on her website, here. Artist #2: Craig Hawkins Hawkins has done a pretty vast series of people hidden under boxes. He says about his work, it's a "series that seeks to question the way we hide. Dealing with isolation, and compartmentalizing. What feels safe and comfortable may not always be beneficial. We were created with the need for community, and communication beyond ourselves..." Again, a talented artist who also has something to say! Check his work out below and view more of his paintings on his website, here. Hope that you've been a bit inspired today! I know that I have--and that I can't wait to get out my paintbrushes tomorrow... Have a creative Wednesday! Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
