Earlier this week, I saw the painting above on one of my social media feeds, and even in the small thumbnail image, I could tell that it was created by a very talented artist. I jotted down the artist's name and when I finally got a chance to look her up yesterday, I wasn't surprised AT ALL to see that she's someone I've featured here before--only the last time I featured her paintings of people with birds on their heads (which I love because they are just SO peculiar). So today, I wanted to share this simple new series by this artist who I'm obviously a big fan of, Elizabeth Mayville. Mayville is a Michigan-based artist who also happens to have a very thriving Etsy shop--something I'm extremely impressed by because it is one of my major goals for the next 6 months or so (fingers crossed that I have the time to devote to it now!)--and I am completely drawn to these simple yet beautiful images of the backs of people's heads. I hope that she continues this series, as I think it's quite wonderful. Take a look at a few of my favorites below... You can take a look at more work by Mayville in her Etsy shop (where she sells very affordable prints of the paintings above!) or on her website. Oh, and just because I can't resist, take a look at a few of her little paintings of silverware and kitchen utensils--aren't they fabulous? You can click on the images below to enlarge them... As you can probably tell, I'm super excited to get back to painting tomorrow--it's been too long and I miss it tremendously! On my list of projects to start? A fun new commission for a baby's room, some new yoga pose mixed media paintings, and my first wedding dress painting. Yipppeee!!!
