I came across Robert Deyber's work in New American Paintings years ago, and it definitely stuck with me. I enjoy his paintings, but it's his clever interpretations of commonly-used figures of speech that really makes me smile. To get it, you just have to take a look (hint: it's ALL about the painting titles, listed below each image)... See? I also love the way that he takes it so seriously--he's got this funny idea and funny subject matter, yet he paints it extremely realistically, on a fairly large scale, and with very dramatic colors and composition. He's a clever one, that Mr. Deyber...
