Lately, I can't get enough of the sunshine. I want it--I need it! It's so amazing and healing and good for us (when wearing sunscreen, obvs)! Something else that I find totally amazing is when artists can capture the warmth of the sunshine in their work--the way that it hits buildings and landscapes as it moves across the sky, and the power that it has to totally transform a scene. Today's artist, David Imlay, is a master at capturing sunlight in this way. There's an incredible texture, warmth, and mood to his paintings that I find totally unique, and his work has both the glow of an old photograph and the feel of a painting at the same time. Let me put it this way: He can make three trashcans sitting in a row in front of an ugly building look beautiful. Like, really, really beautiful and dream-like. If you can transform trashcans into something gorgeous, you get an A+ in my book. You can take a look at some of my favorite David Imlay paintings below (and pay special attention to the trashcan painting!)... Can you believe the way that he captures light? Don't you want to stand in one of his paintings and feel the sun on your face? I know I do. These paintings also make me want to visit CA...
Oh, and if you want to see some amazing dog portraits (like nothing you've ever seen before), check out David Imlay's website. He is one talented (and humorous) guy. Hope your day is filled with sunshine! Comments are closed.
