Dearest Spring, Where are you? We've been waiting for so long! I see little signs of your impending arrival in the front yard, in the few green leaves sprouting from the bushes in the neighborhood, in the holes that my dog digs in the now soft ground, but you're still not here! Did you run into a delay? Did the airline lose your luggage? Did your car break down on I-95? Did you have to stop by CVS for a toothbrush because you forgot yours? Do tell! I don't mean to replace you, but I wanted to let you know that since you still haven't made your way up to the Cape, I've had to take to the interwebs to find some color, some fresh flowers, and some springtime inspiration to hold me over until you arrive. Luckily, the incredible South Carolina-based artist (and GA native!) Kate Mullin has created some paintings that imbue your vibe--and the fresh texture, vibrant hues, and strong brushstrokes in her work are reminiscent of your lushness, your beauty, and your power (when you decide to show up, that is...). So, Spring, I wanted to share these paintings with you, in the hopes that they'll show you just how much I am missing you (yearning for you, really), and in order to show you that although you are not replaceable, a talented artist like Kate Mullin can replicate the floral part of your being using brushes, paint, and canvas. You can view some of Mullin's incredible work below: Lovely and fun and luscious, right? I want to step into one of these paintings and smell the flowers, sit on the bench, dine at the table! But Spring, if you would just show up, I wouldn't have to...so come on already, freako.
If you want to view more of Mullin's gorgeous work, you can check out her website and/or her online shop. Hope to see you soon, my love (I was just kidding when I called you a freako--don't be mad!)... Comments are closed.
