There's a family living in New York with a daughter who has a severe lung disease. They spend almost all of their free time, resources, and energy on medical treatments, and are in and out of the hospital and doctor's offices on a regular basis. They have two other children who aren't ill, but who often have to help out and who live with the constant knowledge that their sister has a life-threatening illness. As you can imagine, this family is under a lot of emotional stress. But what if this family was able to get away for a week, on an all-expenses paid vacation, where they had help (from camp counselors), felt safe (because they were there with other families who have children with life-threatening illnesses), and where their daughter's special needs would be handled? That would be amazing, right? Well, there's a non-profit that does just that, and it's called Dream Day on Cape Cod. This coming Sunday, I'm teaming up with 4 fabulous Cape Cod yoga teachers to host the Dream Big Yogathon, a 2-hour yoga class benefitting Dream Day on Cape Cod. Everyone who participates in this yogathon has been asked to raise $150, and our goal as a group is to raise $25,000 for this organization. That's a lot of money, and it would be an amazing boost to this small non-profit's budget. We have 4 more full days until the event, and right now we've raised $17,000. We have $8,000 more to go. So, bloggies, here's what I'm asking of you (and I try not to ask much!): Could you donate to my fundraising page? Seriously, every little bit counts and it would be a great way to give back--especially since many of you are not local ;) And get this--if every one of my blog readers donated just $5, we could raise another $14,000 and blow away our goal!! It would be ah-freaking-mazing. Are you in? If so, click below to donate: {DONATE HERE}I don't ask for money from you very often, but would be sososo appreciative if you would donate to this amazing cause. Here are some pictures of families at Dream Day on Cape Cod during this past summer's sessions (they do 6 weeks of sessions and have served over 300 families since their inception!)... I am so looking forward to this event and to making a difference in the lives of families like these.
I hope you'll consider donating or joining if you're local! If you can't commit to fundraising, we'd still love to have you drop-in and donate [whatever you can] on the day of... You can find out more on our Facebook page, if you're interested ;) Thanks for reading and for your support, everyone! Comments are closed.
