Sometimes, I just want to look at art that is total eye candy. This week has already been a pretty insane one (as would be expected with our big move only 11 days away!), so I figured that something lighthearted, colorful, playful, and fun was just what I needed. As I was looking through some of my favorite art sites earlier this week, I stumbled upon the work of Nicole Newsted--an artist who is keeping it lighthearted and bright while painting with a skill and talent that would rival the best of 'em. Yes, please! Newsted is a full-time painter (and so is her husband--how amazing!) and has said the following about her paintings: “My current work deals with texture and arrangement. I want the paint to have 'teeth.' I strive for the texture of the piece to be an integral part of the final image." After looking through her work, I believe that she succeeds in giving her paintings "teeth," and I think that you'll agree when you take a look at some of my favorites below ;) Oh, and get this--she does daily paintings, she has a blog entitled "Brighter is Better" (fab), and she is currently doing a series called "The Polish Project," in which she is painting her way through her massive nail polish collection. I love it! Just YUM--on so many levels--ya know?
You can check out more of Newsted's work on her website, her blog, or on her daily paintings site. Phew. I needed that!
