If it seems like I've gone *slightly* wild sharing images of today's featured artists' work, that's because I have. When I went through her portfolio to decide which pieces I wanted to show you, I just couldn't stop! I love all of them SO much! You might recognize Little Green Things--the work of Leah Boelman--from a SJOTW post a while back. I bought one of her pieces at Crafty Bastards (a DC craft show) back in September, and have been in love with her work ever since. I even commissioned a personalized piece for a good friend's birthday recently, and will probably do the same many more times in the future. She's just so fab! To understand why I feel that she's a TOTAL kindred spirit and inspiration, check out this quick write-up from her website: seriously. this work is my dream. you know when you hear people talk about "living your passion" and "finding your calling"? well this art is exactly that to me. for years I'd yearned for a deeper connection to my job, and at certain points along the way I nearly gave up hope of making a living doing WHAT I LOVE. in my mind I'd tried it all. pastry chef. personal trainer. florist. rock climbing coach. barista. snow shoveler. rigger. pet sitter. ice cream maker. personal assistant. you get the idea. then I found THIS! well, more like it found ME. stitching my designs into salvaged wood turned out to be the portal to my soul and my voice. it deciphers the puzzling ideas of my world and provides a means of connection with all the living BE-ings around me. there's just something inside of me that flows and feels blissful and absolutely RIGHT when I connect the dots of my ideas with yarn. it allows my soul to breathe and stretch and settle into WHO I AM. my big, grand wish is this. . . when you see one of my pieces, may you be inspired to go out into the world and BE YOUR BEST and delight in the rich moments shared with all that you love. So, do you see? Leah has found her calling in her art, and she's making a living doing it! AH-MAZING. Shall we take a look at some of Leah's fabulously inspiring work? I love the positivity, the fun, the playfulness of her pieces--and the beautiful colors, the use of yarn, the reclaimed materials. Honestly, what's not to love? And not to be an art pusher, but you guys, I think these pieces make amazing holiday gifts. You can buy an existing or custom piece in her Etsy shop, on her website, or in one of the fabulous shops/galleries that carries her work. SUCH a big fan! And with that, a final reminder from Little Green Things: Yay! I am! I hope that you can connect with some gratitude today, too :)
