Magda Sayeg has been called the "mother of yarn bombing," but I would go further than that--after looking into her work and reading more about her, she seems to be The Godfather of yarn bombing. I've shared some yarn bombing work before, in one of my street & guerilla art postings, but seriously, Sayeg takes it to a whole different level. My favorite factoid about her? She has singlehandedly been able to elevate this craft or movement to fine art status, and in turn, has received a number of installation commissions from large companies, solo shows, and has done quite a few extremely interesting public art exhibitions. Equally fabulous, Sayeg was recently commissioned to cover all of the AC ductwork of Etsy.com’s headquarters in Brooklyn (Yay Etsy! I heart you!). Ready to take a look at some of her work? Prepare to be amazed... To view more of Sayeg's work, check out her website, here. She's also got a cute little shop that sells "Knitta" iPhone covers and t-shirts, if you're interested...
Sayeg = totally inspiring and fabulous. This girl = totally blown away. Talk about creating your dream job, huh? Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
