Um, wow. These prints by Jessica White, aka "Heroes & Criminals Press," are ah-freaking-mazing. Each individual piece makes you feel as if you've entered a whimsical little storybook world--as if you've stumbled into a children's book that is a little off...in a very, very good way. I ran into Jessica's prints while at the Blue Gallery in Provincetown a few months ago, and was totally drawn in by her little details, the captions, and her playful style. There's something kind of sad and haunting, but also really witty and sweet about her work; I can't quite put my finger on it and I like that. Do I sound like a crazy person? Why don't you take a look at some of her prints and see if you understand what I'm saying... [Above caption reads: "They promised to let her know as soon as they found the root of all evil."] [Caption reads: "The birds of North America are uncommonly beautiful and must therefore be restrained, lest they fly away."] [Caption reads: "Ok, listen carefully...this isn't a game anymore."] [Caption reads: "No, it's not hellfire. It's just a regular fire."] [Caption reads: "Can you tell me how to live without fear?"] [Caption reads: "...and suddenly she understood why the rising waters were the least of their worries."] Great, right? If you, too, adore Jessica White's work, you can view more and purchase prints on her website or in her Etsy shop. Connect with her on Facebook to lean more about her.
And if you like her work, buy a print, will ya!?! I'm on an art buying kick this week and I lerve it ;)
