OMGoodness, can you believe that the image above is a drawing? I am *almost* speechless (almost). Today's incredible "Hair Portraits" are the work of artist Brittany Schall, who purposefully omits the faces in these images in order to give the viewer space to make his or her own inferences about the subject. I found that when looking at these drawings, I began to put these women into categories, making observations or judgements about who they are or what they do, about their personalities and how they dress, without seeing anything but their hair. I always find it incredible when an artist's work allows the viewer to learn something about him or herself. In my case, pieces like this make me realize how quick I am to come to conclusions about someone, based on just one or two little visual cues about their overall appearance. Do you do the same thing? You can find out by viewing more of Schall's amazing work below... Pretty astounding, right? I never realized that hair had such a personality of it's own (but now I see that it truly does!)...
You can view more of Brittany Schall's fabulous work on her website. Enjoy!

I know, hair is hard to draw! Easier to paint, but definitely hard to draw--especially this detailed! Comments are closed.
