Ever since we bought our new house, I've been having nightmares of arriving there one Saturday morning to do some work on it, and finding it in shambles. This might sound unreasonable, but like most unreasonable fears, I do have a basis for this worry... As you know, it's been snowing and blizzarding approximately every other day here in New England, and as I recently found out, snow is heavy--especially when it piles up on your roof and never melts. So, there's my fear: that before it gets warm enough to melt, or before we can rent a roof rake (just found out that these exist!?), our roof will collapse under the weight of the snow and everything will be ruined. Anyone else have this anxiety? Anxiety is fun, isn't it? So anyway, Seth Clark's work, mixed media collages depicting collapsed piles of houses and roofs and walls and buildings, fits in very nicely with my nightmare. And what better way to confront it than by looking at these gorgeous paintings, one right after another? I have to say, I'm very drawn to them, and I LOVE Clark's ability to make a pile of scraps look beautiful. Such a gift! Lets take a look, shall we? Doesn't the piece above horrify you? But in a kinda great way? Strangely enough, it sort of puts things into perspective...
You can view more of Seth Clark's work on his website and can follow him on Instagram for more images of his work, his studio, and his inspirations. Hope your day is collapse + anxiety-free! Comments are closed.
