First, I noticed the colors. {Oh, the colors!} Then, I noticed the brushwork. Then, I was drawn in by the shapes and the drips and the translucency of the paint and the painting surface showing through and yeah, the everything. I love these paintings. Today's featured artist is Melbourne-based painter and surface designer, Belinda Marshall. On her website she calls her work "an exploration of emotional reactions to the beauty within her immediate environment." She states that "her paintings depict her vision of a perfect world--an inner world that can be accessed through a calm, meditative process--communicated through layers of color and shapes or sections of pattern." Interesting, right? Sounds a bit like the internal experience of yoga, doesn't it? Here are a few of my favorites: These colors are killing me! So so so so so pretty.
If you, too, are a fan of Marshall's work, you can pick up a print, an original, a wall hanging, a pillow (!), or even a 2015 calendar in her online shop OR in her Etsy shop. She also has a Facebook Page and a gorgeous Instagram feed where she is participating in the #arteveryday2014 project. Lots to see! Have fun looking--her work will def brighten your day ;)
