My brother sent me this site a few months back, and it was love at first sight. I've been meaning to blog about it in order to share my love for Werning's work with the world, but kept forgetting to do so! Then, during my lovely STAYCATION today, while lounging around in an uber-relaxed state, I remembered this site and decided that I would definitely blog about it in my next post...and voila! Here we are. So anyways, as I've already mentioned, I absolutely love this artist's idea and her work: basically, she takes people's old childhood photographs, reenacts them (down to the very last detail!) and then snaps a new pic. She then edits them (not sure how...probably with Photoshop? She doesn't say...) in order to give them the exact same aura as the original picture. She is so exact that it's almost eerie, but I think that she is extremely talented and creative, and I just adore her work. I want one done of me and my brothers when we were young! SO. COOL. Check out three of my favorite sets below (isn't is crazy how some people look the exact same 20 years later?) : You can see all of her work on her website, here: http://irinawerning.com/back-to-the-fut/back-to-the-future/.
Similarly, for all you dog-lovers out there, she has this hysterical series called the "Chini Project" where she took dozens of pictures of her friend's dog, Chini, in various "sets" that she created for her. Really funny and quite creative (think about all the time spent creating those detailed sets!). You have to see for yourself: http://irinawerning.com/chini/chini-project/. I'm always looking for inspiring artists and series, so if you find one, please send it my way! Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
