As you know by now, I'm a fan of art made out of unique materials. And for some reason, I have an affinity for art made out of cloth, yarn, and/or embroidery thread. I guess I just find it really impressive when people can sew or embroider items that look like they're real or painted...it's so different than anything that I've ever created that I can't even begin to imagine the process, which I love! Thus, today's featured artist, Megan Whitmarsh. Each item/piece of art that you see here is made of cloth, embroidery thread, and in some cases, marker, and although each item is totally different. I think you'll see a similar aesthetic--a common thread, if you will (Hehe! I had to!) that runs between all of them. Lets take a look! Oh, and even though it doesn't really fit in with the theme, I thought I should share this handmade t-shirt with you (actual shirt and embroidery done by hand!), because it makes me smile: Funny, right!?!? I love it. You can view more of Megan Whitmarsh's work on her website.
Hope these pieces inspire you to think outside of the box today! Comments are closed.
