Last week I wrote about saving Sunday, or finding time to truly enjoy a day off--whenever that day may fall for you. Yesterday, Ben and I took some time to do just that (it was such a beautiful day that we couldn't not enjoy it!), and came across a bunch of other people doing just the same thing. On our walk to Rock Creek Park, we passed a number of couples and groups of friends out for an afternoon stroll, or cooking out, and of course we came across the usual runners, bikers, and dog-walkers. But my favorite person that we saw was a guy who had brought his own hammock down by the creek and tied it to two trees (so clever!)--who was just reading the afternoon away as he rocked back and forth in his hammock :) Talk about knowing how to enjoy life! Anyways, once we found our favorite field in Rock Creek Park, we set out our blanket to lie down and relax in the sun--right next to a couple with a kite. At first we were kind of laughing about their kite, they couldn't get it to fly and it was kind of silly to see an adult couple with a kite, but once they were able to get it going, it was beautful! Ben and I spent the afternoon lying on our backs on a blanket, talking and watching their kites fly overhead (corny, I know, but true and SO relaxing!). It was an amazing day. To commemorate the moment and to document the sheer beauty, I took some delicious instagram (changed my life!) pics... I was SO inspired by the kite-flying couple (again, it's the simple things that help you enjoy the present moment!) that I decided to look into buying one of my own. Look at the gorgeous kites that I came across! See? How FUN and creative are kites? Such a simple pleasure, but a great toy for adults! I'm going to ask for one for Memorial Day :)
Happy flying! Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
