Have you taken a look at your summer calendar recently and wondered, how in the world has it gotten SO full? Me too! How have the summer months already slipped into crazy calendar oblivion? In an effort to enjoy every moment while still planning ahead, I wanted to share my upcoming summer happenings with you today so that if you're interested, you can join me for some of these fun activities--before your calendar is completely full ;) A few of the summer events that I'm *super* excited about being a part of are listed below...hope to see you there! ![]() Image via YogaJournal.com Summer Restoration: A Restorative Yoga Workshop Saturday, June 16th from 5-7pm at TSA Feeling exhausted or depleted from the heat of the summer? Need a mid-summer pick-me up so that you can make it to your summer vacation without sacrificing your peace of mind? Replenish your body, mind and spirit with a 45-minute slow flow vinyasa practice followed by 1.15 hours of restorative yoga, meditation, and savasana. We will spend time in poses meant to release emotions and stress, cleanse and heal the body, and calm the mind. Come prepared to let go and relax completely. Appropriate for all levels. ![]() Image via womantraveler.info Celebrate the Summer Solstice with 108 Sun Salutations Friday, June 22nd from 8-10:30pm at TSA Join Tranquil Space teachers (Jen H., Jennifer T., Jes, Jodi, Kat, Katie, Laura, Lauren, Mary Catherine, and Mie) for a dynamic, fun filled evening saluting the sun 108 times. We will move through variations of Surya Namaskar A and B. Repetition in movement allows for the body to come into a serene meditative flow. Embrace the richness of the summer sun and give yourself permission to let loose and to let go. All proceeds will benefit a local charity of your choosing (see this blog post for more details on voting). ![]() Advanced Practice/Yoga 3 Saturday, July 21st from 5-6:30pm at TSA Interested in taking your practice to the next level but not able to make it to our Dupont studio to take our Yoga 3 classes? Join Mary Catherine for a 1.5 hour Yoga 3 practice at TSA. This advanced asana workshop will be structured similarly to a regular Tranquil Space class, but will include time to play with a number of advanced poses and transitions. The class will be sequenced so that students who are comfortable in both Yoga 2 & Yoga 3 classes are welcome and encouraged to attend in order to take their practice up a notch. Students should have some interest in working with arm balances, inversions, and advanced transitions, and should be regular Yoga 2 students. Not appropriate for beginners. ![]() Image via flickr.com Jump into Yoga 2 Saturday, August 4th from 5-7:30pm at TSA A workshop designed to assist students in finding their core strength, learning how to engage it and take their practice to a new level. We will focus on how to use this strength for chaturanga, headstand, and jumping into chaturanga and forward fold. There will be time to explore bakasana (crow) and the beginning of sirsasana (headstand). Please bring your own mat if you have one, a water bottle, hand towel and any questions you have. Fun, huh? For those who are interested in joining me for something a little more artistically-focused, I'll also be hosting a special Watercolor Workshop (module) at Kimberly Wilson's "Tranquility Summer Camp" retreat in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia in July. You can get all the details about the retreat here (there are only 5 spaces left!)--and it sounds like a BLAST! I'm excited to be a part of it.
And lastly, if you haven't make the trek over to Crystal City yet, you should check out Artomatic! It's not over yet (runs until June 23rd), so you still have time to visit my exhibition at this crazy, wild, tons-of-fun local art show ;) I'll also be selling some prints of my work at the "Art-to-go Marketplace" at Artomatic on Saturday, June 22nd, so feel free to come by and see me then! Hope your summer is also feeling FULL yet FULFILLING :) Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
