For me, this month = busy (but exciting!). I've always loved the fall, as something about the chill in the air kicks me into gear and gets me very energized. Sure, it's been unseasonably cold and rainy thus far this month, but I haven't given up yet--I still think we're going to have a beautiful fall! So, between my upcoming trip to Kentucky for another (!) wedding and two weekends of Advanced Teacher Training, I'll be leading the following workshops and participating in the following events in DC this month. Care to join me? All of the info is below... Upcoming Workshops at Tranquil Space Arlington: ![]() Yoga & Cross-Training: Yoga for Runners, Bikers, Athletes, & CrossFitters Saturday, 10/9 from 5-7pm Love yoga but can't find the time to make it to a class regularly due to your other physical fitness interests? This workshop is for those who lead extremely physical lives and whose body works hard in their physical pursuits, but who can't make it to a studio or class every day to practice. Through yoga, athletes can learn to increase their body awareness, prevent injuries, and increase flexibility. During this workshop, time will be spent teaching poses and sequences that can be done at home or before/after another type of workout in order to aid in flexibility, balance, and injury prevention. Those who already have a regular yoga practice but are also runners, bikers, etc. will also benefit from this workshop because we will be targeting muscles used for these various types of activities and learning how to increase mobility through yoga. We will spend 1 hour in a vinyasa practice especially for athletes and then spend the next hour breaking down and discussing a number of poses meant to target the various muscles used in these athletic pursuits. Appropriate for all levels. Beginners welcome! $35, $30 if you register online here. ![]() Newbie Yogi Workshop Saturday, 10/22 from 5-7:30pm A 2.5-hour workshop for introducing the basics of vinyasa yoga. Explore alignment and breathing along with basic poses and relaxation techniques. Geared for the brand new beginner or those curious about yoga. 1 week unlimited yoga classes included - the week immediately following the workshop only. Please bring your own mat if you have one, a water bottle, hand towel and any questions you have. $40, $35 if you register online here. Upcoming Workshops at Tranquil Space Dupont: ![]() Opening the Hips to Open the Heart, Mind, and Soul Sunday, 10/23 from 2:30-4:30pm Join me for an afternoon of hip-opening asanas and exploration into the emotions that are hidden deeply inside of the hips. We will focus on opening the hips in order to connect with one's inner thoughts, desires, beliefs, hopes, dreams, and passions. The workshop will consist of a hip and heart-opening vinyasa practice, followed by discussion and time for journaling. Bring a journal and something to write with! $35, $30 when you register online here. Online Events: ![]() Tranquil Space Foundation Online Auction I've donated a small watercolor to the 5th Annual Tranquil Space Foundation Celebration & Silent Auction. I featured an image of the watercolor on my blog recently, and you can bid on it here. Details for the event: Wednesday, October 12th from 7-9pm at the Darlington House in DC. More info about the event can be found here. ![]() Gray Blush Gallery Opening & Launch Two of my paintings have been selected by a juried panel for exhibition on Gray Blush Gallery's website. Gray Blush is an inspiring new gallery with a great mission and it's opening/launching this month (I'll post a link when it does!). I'm very excited to be a part of it! You can view the preview site here :) There's plenty more on the way in November and December (3 more workshops, a Holiday Show at my studio, and an impending book launch for the book that I'm illustrating), but I'll be sure to keep you updated as we move into the holiday season... Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about these upcoming events! Hope to see you there :) Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
