"The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness.” -Dalai Lama I try to practice gratitude for the little things (the simple joys), the big things, and everything in between all throughout the year. But I'm not always successful; just like yoga, gratitude is a practice that we must keep coming back to, time and time again--not just around the holidays, but on the rainy days when we're running late, during the weeks when everything seems to be going wrong, even when horrible tragedies occur and everything feels pretty bleak. However, a reminder to be grateful and express that gratitude never hurts. So, this Thanksgiving, I want to give a big gratitude shout-out to all of the people in my life who lift me up, keep me laughing, never waver in their support, love, and thoughtfulness, and continually enable me to try to live the best life I can live. To my amazing family, husband, friends, students, dog (not a person but feels like one!) and this online community: thank you. For making life feel meaningful, for making me smile, for reminding me what is important when I get too bogged down in the mucky-muck, for caring about the minutiae of my daily life, for being there when I'm lost, for your sense of humor, and for all of the big hugs. I so appreciate your goodness; you make me better. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. May today and every other day be filled with goodness + gratitude! PS. I'm taking tomorrow off from everything (yay!), so there will be no Simple Joys of the Week this week. See you back here on Monday!
