The holidays are coming! Man-oh-man. But you know what makes me really excited about the holiday season, besides the 3 F's (family, food + fires)? Holiday cards--especially handmade ones. So, I decided to get ahead of the game this year and release my new holiday cards BEFORE Thanksgiving--can you believe it? Hiring an assistant may be the best thing that's ever happened to me ;) Anyways, my 2 new holiday card designs are now available in my Etsy shop, along with last year's popular "[Christmas] Tree Pose" options. You can view all of my holiday card designs below and/or click on the button below to purchase your faves in an 8-pack or individually: Fun, right? I hope you like them! Oh, and I'm headed back from DC/VA this morning and just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to my workshops at Tranquil Space this past weekend! It was incredible to see all of you and reconnect; my heart is full. I have been LOVING fresh watermelon these days. It's one of those summer fruits that I kind of forget about in the offseason, and then when summer hits, I can't get enough (or in the words of one of my favorite hashtags, #cantstopwontstop). So, feeling totally captivated by the summer spirit and my love of this juicy fruit, I decided to throw a little watermelon-inspired party here on the blog for you. On the guest list? All of the incredible and adorable watermelon-related items below--each handmade by a fabulous Etsy seller who must be a fellow watermelon-lover (how could you not be?). As usual, you can click on the collection below to view the treasury on Etsy and/or to purchase any of the items that I've included in the collection: Oh, and I almost forgot--just in case you want more where this came from, here's a listing for a Watermelon Denim Jacket (for realz).
And if the jacket isn't the right fit for your personal style, you could instead opt for a tank top with pictures of the same watermelon denim jacket ON IT (yep, you read that right.). [Also, while perusing Etsy I found this guy in a watermelon shirt. Gotta love it!] Now off to enjoy some juicy juicy... If you've been reading the blog for a while, you know that I love hip hop. Born and raised in [and around] ATL, rap music was simply a part of our culture, and we never thought much about it. One of the first few tapes that I bought (yes, tapes) was Salt n' Pepa, I loved Tupac from a very young age (too young?), and in high school I could be found reading Eminem's Biography and learning every word to his songs. Obviously, because of my love for this musical genre, I also have a soft spot for rap lyrics, hip hop-inspired art, and more importantly, lyrics used in clever ways. My favorite creations, however, are those that contrast hip hop culture and mainstream design trends--thus, I thought I would gather some of these items for you in today's Etsy Collection. Not all of the items fit the description above (the Eminem nail art, for example), but I think my fellow rap-lovers will appreciate the collection as a whole ;) You can click on the collection below to view the treasury on Etsy and/or to purchase any of the items listed: I think I need that dish towel...and the "Beyonce is my spirit animal" mug ;)
Oh, and speaking of hip hop, Tranquil Space peeps stay tuned, as I'll be coming back to DC/VA in the fall and will definitely be teaching another Hip Hop Yoga class! And Cape Codders, I've got something in the works for here, too. I'll keep you posted... Me oh my, I get so lost on Etsy! This month's Etsy Collection is inspired by Mother's Day, which crazily enough, is this coming Sunday. Have you gotten your mom a gift yet? I haven't (eek!)...so I'm thinking I'll need to get on that stat. If you, too, need to get your M-Day act together, I encourage you to buy a gift for your mom from a local artisan/shop or an Etsy artist/maker, instead of a big box store or chain. I know that Amazon shipping is incredible (I love it!), but I promise that the extra care taken by an individual is totally worth the cost of shipping. So, for this "mellow" Mother's Day collection, I've gathered a few items from Etsy that I find very nurturing, soothing, and beautiful, in the hopes that they'll inspire you to pick out something special for your madre--something that embodies her personality + individuality ;) That being said, a handmade (by you!) gift is also a great option--or the gift of time and energy, of course... Click on the collection below to view the treasury on Etsy and/or to purchase any of the items listed: Oh Etsy, you are simply amazing! I could make a new collection every single day and never run out of items that I love.
Beteedubs, you won't believe this crazy item that I came across while searching...haha ;) Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone! The crocuses are blooming! It's springtime! It really, truly is. This past weekend we went on both a long bike ride AND a long walk, and during each, spring was definitely in the air. Sure, it was a bit chilly outside and my nose was running as the wind whipped against my face, but the sun was shining, purple buds were poking up from the ground, and we didn't have to wear gloves or big coats or ear warmers or boots. Hooray! Thus, inspired by the excitement of spring and all of the purple crocus sightings, I've created an Etsy Collection that I feel captures some of this spirit. Click on the collection to view the treasury on Etsy and/or to purchase any of the items below... Three cheers for handmade goods and springtime!
Inspired by one of my very favorite poems by e.e. cummings, I present this month's Etsy Collection (ta da!). Somewhat playful, somewhat bohemian, somewhat love-centered (if you received my newsletter, you'll know that I think February is a great time to focus on self-love, as opposed to/in addition to romantic love!), this collection consists of a number of items that I would buy in an instant. {Except for maybe the "Red Heart Mitten Snuggle," which I really just included because it made me laugh. Even though I do kind of want it. And think it's pretty awesome. On second thought, maybe I should buy it? } So yeah, I hope you enjoy the collection! And if you're drawn to something, please purchase it to show your support for handmade goods and hard-working artists + creators! 'i carry your heart with me' by marycatherinestarrOh my, do I heart Etsy! I could spend hours and hours perusing the site and adding millions of items to my shopping cart... Happy February, everyone! We finally put up our holiday decorations! And our first non-Charlie Brown Christmas tree! And our stockings on an actual mantlepiece! Hoorayyy! I'm officially in the holiday spirit. Thus, I felt it only necessary that this month's Etsy Collection consist of some of my favorite handmade, holiday-themed home decor items. I scoured Etsy for non-cheesy holiday decorations that I would actually want to use in my home, and here's what I came up with: 'Handmade Holiday Decor' by marycatherinestarr I really want to buy those Yogi Christmas Cards. And the 'Fa la la' items...and the tree topper...
Hope this gets you in the holiday spirit, as well! Happy decorating, caroling, spiriting, and enjoying :) Happy Monday, everyone! Guess what? I've decided to start doing Etsy roundups every once in a while here on the blog. {Yippee! } Why, you ask? Well, for a number of reasons, a few being:
That's why. So, that being said, here's my very first Etsy Collection (or as it's called in Etsy-land, "Treasury"). You can click on an item below to visit the seller's shop and/or to learn more about the gorgeous item on display... 'Fall Fantasies' by marycatherinestarr. I'm SO excited about Fall. Can you tell? Here's to an inspirational start to the week for all! PS. I hope to start doing at least one Etsy Collection post each month, so please send any must-share items my way!
