Today's interviewee holds a special place in my heart and here's why: waaaaayyyyy back in 2010 when I was doing my 500-hour Teacher Training in DC, a bunch of us would use our lunch hour to walk over to a restaurant called Teaism to buy "Salty Oat Cookies." We loved them and they were our thing.
Fast forward to 2014 when we'd been living on Cape Cod for a few months, and I come to find out that my favorite cookies--Kayak Cookies' "Salty Oat" cookies--are made right here on Cape Cod (and shipped down to Teaism in DC!). Mind = blown. Since then, I have continued to be a Kayak Cookies fangirl and was therefore overjoyed to finally sit down with the baker behind these cookies, Terri Horn, for this week's episode of Built on Cape Cod. Here's the episode recap: Terri Horn has been baking Oatmeal Raisin Salty Oat cookies for 20 years. It's been quite the journey, but today she has a thriving wholesale business (and growing online business), with her cookies being sold in over 70 locations across 7 states. Terri moved Kayak Cookies to Cape Cod in 2005 and since then, has grown her business immensely, finally landing in her own bakery/warehouse on Main Street in Hyannis. In today's episode, Terri shares the story of how she got to where she is today and where she hopes to take Kayak Cookies in the future. Learn more at KayakCookies.com.
