Happy Monday, bloggies! Today we're revisiting the process of actually creating a painting, and as usual, are taking a look at images of both in-progress and completed works of art... One of the reasons that I love showing the various incarnations of a painting is because it peels back the layers and shows that there is a true process involved--a process that takes patience, flexibility, lots of work, and a willingness to mess up and then fix your mistakes--much like life [and yoga, for that matter!]. So anyways, today we're looking at two "house portraits" that were recently commissioned by a couple who got married over the first weekend in January. Here's the {sweet} backstory: The bride & groom grew up in the same neighborhood. Both of their parents have since moved away, but the houses and the neighborhood will always play a big role in the families' lives. Thus, the bride & groom had a family friend go to their old neighborhood to snap pics of their childhood homes, and then sent those pics to me. I painted the houses, making changes to restore them to their original glory and coloring, and the couple then gifted their parents with these paintings at their Rehearsal Dinner. Wonderfully thoughtful, right? Thus, now that you know the story behind these fun custom paintings, lets take a look at the process of actually creating them... HOUSE #1: The Groom's Childhood Home HOUSE #2: The Bride's Childhood Home And this is why I paint--for the joy of the process, the satisfaction of the final product, and the happiness + meaning that art can bring to others.
What process brings YOU joy and satisfaction? How can you peel back the layers and take a closer look? Comments are closed.
