![]() Bonjour from a double-decker bus to Nueva York! I'm heading up to the city for training this week, and the anticipation is just about killing me. Why am I anxious about this trip? Because although we live a mere 4 hours away, I haven't been back to New York since moving from NY to DC in August, 2009...because I loved NYC with SUCH a passion, that I've been afraid that I'll get really sad when I finally go back. Going to New York as a visitor will mean that I really don't live there anymore--and it's a lot easier to be in denial when you have the memories of life there, and no memories of visiting your former home as a "tourist." I honestly do like DC as a city (although it's not really the city, but the community that I have found in DC that makes me love life here), and I have a deep love for Kentucky, where I went to school. But no matter where I live for the rest of my life, nowhere will ever hold a candle to New York--or more specifically, to living in the East Village. Yes, life in New York is hard, busy, and hectic, but it is also energizing, inspiring, and bursting with creativity. I wouldn't trade my time there for anything in the world, and feel so lucky to have been able to make it there for the time that I did. ![]() Going back for a training now, I know that the visit will be bittersweet. We'll be busy during the day, and are going to try and hit fun yoga studios (Jivamukti and Laughing Lotus are definites) and restaurants (Union Square Cafe and Sweet Revenge are both on the agenda) each evening, so I'm not sure I'll even make it to the East Village on this trip. And although that's really sad, I'm also secretly glad because I'm not sure if I could handle it or not. Too sad. Sometimes, you just have to take baby steps... I'll blog about the studios and restaurants we visit, and will try to share some fun pictures when I get a chance. Oh New York, how I've missed you so!! I'm coming hommmeeeee!
