Hello again from the Cape! The last five days have been a total blur, but we've had a complete blast. In lieu of writing a long post all about the wedding festivities (beautiful!), the beach (so refreshing!), the people (wonderful!), and the food (um, delish!!), I'd rather share my "top 5 activities" from the trip thus far. Much more fun in list form, although I'd like to note that they're in no particular order. :) ![]() 1. Dancing after the rehearsal dinner and at the wedding: When I haven't done it in a while, I always forget how much I LOVE dancing! It is so. much. fun. We went out dancing after the rehearsal dinner on Friday night, then danced the night away at the wedding on Saturday, and it was just a total blast. I can't remember the last time that I danced until I was sweating, but that's what happened both nights :) Plus, it was also fun to slow-dance with my "fiance" at a wedding--we haven't done that since we've been engaged, and haven't slow-danced in years! That's Ben breaking it down with the glowing eyes in the picture to the left :) ![]() 2. Sleeping: Last night I went to bed at 10:45pm...this morning I woke up at 10:30am. I know, right? It was glorious! Granted, the first few nights that we were here we got very little sleep (getting used to sleeping in a new place, arriving home late each night, waking up early, and drinking heavily...), but still, it's amazing to be able to get that much sleep. Plus, it was raining, my favorite weather to sleep in. This is hands-down one of the best parts of being on vacation. ![]() 3. Hearing the Best Man & Maid of Honor speeches: I love ceremonies. I also love tradition, speeches, and moments of commemoration. So, undoubtedly one of my favorite parts of a wedding is the Best Man and Maid of Honor speeches. I teared up during both of them at the wedding this past weekend, as they were truly amazing. My friend Brian, the best man (pictured in the middle in the photo to the left), gave a hysterical and heart-felt speech about the groom--I loved it! ![]() 4. Showering in the outdoor shower: when I first came home with Ben to the Cape, I was totally weirded out by the "outdoor shower" phenomenon that I witnessed at every home we visited. 6.5 years later, I am completely obsessed with outdoor showers. Imagine taking a shower outside on a beautiful, sunny, breezy day. No steamed up mirrors, no worries about getting water everywhere, just cleanliness and nature--it's great! I look forward to taking them every day when I'm up here, and even went as far as to take one while it was cold and raining yesterday morning! Still amazing. They're the best :) ![]() 5. Eating dessert: I've had some DELICIOUS desserts while we've been here, and in my mind, this is a must-do while on vacation. I've been lucky enough to indulge in dark chocolate cake (rehearsal dinner), white wedding cake (at the wedding), homemade blueberry/cherry crisp & vanilla ice cream (dinner at Ben's Mom's house), a soft serve cone with rainbow sprinkles (after day at beach) and Peppermint Stick Four Seas Ice Cream (after dinner out last night). Um, that means at least 1 dessert per day while we've been here. So sweet, but good thing we've been working out ;) ![]() Ben and I at the wedding last weekend :) Other amazing parts of the trip? Doing CrossFit workouts with Ben and his trainer friend, Bobby (getting married next weekend!), bachelorette party festivities and dinner at a Hibachi grill, visiting with all of Ben's amazing friends and family, taking a swim in the ocean, watching a movie at 3pm in the afternoon (such a luxury!) and yoga in the sun on the back porch. Yay! Now off to workout and get some errands done on another rainy day (great excuse to take it slow!)... Namaste, Mary Catherine Comments are closed.
