Every once in a while, I come across an artist whose work just makes me feel better--makes me relax, immediately soothes and calms, and makes me want to sit down and paint, or read a book, or just take a walk and appreciate the beauty in the world. Today's featured artist, Susan La Mont, is one of those artists. I actually "discovered" her at Artomatic last summer, and am so glad that I did (!), as I am truly a big fan of her work.

La Mont is a very prolific painter, and the selection below is by no means a summary of the type of work that she does (I also love a lot of her paintings of cityscapes and people), but I wanted to share a selection of her paintings that make me feel calm, meditative, and serene in some way when looking at them. I hope that they make you feel the same way, and bring a little bit of lightness into your day...
Aren't they beautiful? La Mont's ability to capture cast light is simply astounding! I would have a very hard time picking a favorite...

You can view more work by La Mont on her website, here

Namaste!

I especially like the first picture, the water is reflecting the sun or moon? I can't really tell, but looking at it for a long time reminds one of tratak meditation (staring at a candle flame)
