To celebrate, I wanted to share the gorgeous sparkler star above (as you know, I LOVE stars), and some amazing art by the artist Rosemarie Fiore, who uses fireworks to create her art.
I know! It's crazy.
Fiore creates these works by covering and then lighting various types of fireworks on top of a piece of paper (the paper is laid out on concrete). She covers the fireworks with buckets, thus enabling herself to decide on placement and composition of the explosions, and I would assume, to protect herself. It's pretty wild.
So lets take a look at her work, and then at her process...
And on a slightly random note, I thought I should also share with you that Fiore has a series of "Waffle Iron Paintings," as well. How creative and interesting is that? Here are two pieces that I like (the one on the left is also very 4th of July-ish!):
Have a WONDERFUL holiday and be safe (I wouldn't recommend trying to make any firework art of your own if you're new to the whole concept...)!
Yours truly will be celebrating with some yoga, CrossFit, and a cookout--not too shabby or unexpected, huh? ;)
