Since we're on the subject of sexy this week, I wanted to share an amazing batch of vintage ads that show how much our viewpoint of sexiness has changed over the years. Courtesy of Retronaut, take a look at the crazy vintage weight gain ads below.
Ladies, how insane would it be if these were the types of ads that we grew up looking at--instead of the photoshopped waifs that we typically see today? I think it's super-interesting and quite humorous, in a sad sort of way (how sad if you were a skinny girl back then!), and it really shows how much our culture dictates what we believe is beautiful...
Check them out below (there's even one for skinny men!):

Pretty great, right? I like the one that says, "Numal will help you add pounds and pounds of firm, attractive flesh to your figure." Every woman's dream these days, right?
And since we're on the subject, check out this hysterical ad from the Life Magazine that I picked up at a vintage shop recently. It's not about weight gain, but I love the way that they wrote "Missus" in quotes! Wow, things have changed *just a bit* over the years...

Have a wonderful day and remember, "skinny girls are NOT glamour girls," and "a skinny man hasn't a chance" in this world.
It's a tough life.
Namaste!
